Olufemi Atoyebi,  Ibadan A former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has faulted the state Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, over his claim that the coronation of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, cost the state N100m. Ladoja was reacting to the statement the governor made on the state broadcasting outfit during an interview on Saturday. In a statement signed on behalf of Ladoja by one of his media aides, Lanre Latinwo, the former governor stated that Ibadan people did not beg the governor for money for the coronation of the monarch a year ago. The statement said, “Was the money he claimed to have spent budgeted for? Was it personal money? Did Ibadan people go to him cap in hand for him to foot the bill? Oyo State money should be spent judiciously for the use of all the people of the state and not a section of it. The Oyo State government has promised to review tuition fees at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, in a bid to make it self-sustaining. Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, announced this yesterday in Ibadan, while featuring on a programme tagged “Saturday Special’ aired on the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS). According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), LAUTECH which is co-owned by both Oyo and Osun state governments, had in recent times been enmeshed in crisis over the default of the owners to pay subvention and staff salaries. Ajimobi said his administration had since assumption of office in 2011, paid N22 billion to the institution. He described the amount being paid as tuition fees in LAUTECH as `abysmal,’ adding that it would be reviewed for the institution to be self-sustaining. “The default in the payment of subvention and salaries was as a result of economic downturn. I can’t stop Ladoja to become Olubadan —Ajimobi

Olufem Atoyebi,  Ibadan Oyo State Governor, AbiolaAjimobi, on Friday said he had no power to stop the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, from becoming the Olubadan. The governor said this after the Eid prayers at the Agodi Muslim praying ground in Ibadan, Oyo State. Noticeably, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, was not at the ground after some  Mogajis  under the aegis of the Authentic Ibadan  Mogajis  told him on Thursday to avoid coming to the ground for security reasons. The monarch and some Mogajis  observed the prayers at his palace in Popoyemoja. The Olubadan and Ladoja are opposed to the Ibadan chieftaincy system review initiated by Ajimobi and the installation of 21 new kings in the city. Ajimobi said the controversy that had followed the review would soon be over with more enlightenment campaigns. He also said that the Olubadan would remain his father despite his [Olubadan’s] opposition to the reform. He said, “In the spirit of the celebrati
